The short answer

Does your company need an audit in the UAE?

In most cases, yes. Three separate rules can make an audit compulsory, and many companies fall under more than one of them.

  • Free zone companies

Most free zones, including DMCC, JAFZA and DAFZ, ask for audited financial statements every year before they renew the licence.

  • Corporate tax payers

Audited statements are mandatory once revenue passes AED 50 million, and for every Qualifying Free Zone Person whatever its size.

  • Mainland LLCs

The Commercial Companies Law requires a licensed auditor and accounting records kept for at least five years.

Ask on WhatsApp

Is an audit mandatory for companies in the UAE?

For many companies, yes. Most free zones, including DMCC, JAFZA and DAFZ, require audited financial statements every year to renew the licence. Under the corporate tax rules, audited statements are mandatory for businesses with revenue above AED 50 million and for every Qualifying Free Zone Person. Mainland LLCs are required by the Commercial Companies Law to appoint a licensed auditor.

What does "approved auditor" mean?

Free zone authorities and banks only accept audit reports signed by firms on their approved list. Quick Ashford is a licensed audit firm in Dubai and is approved to audit mainland and free zone companies, so the report you submit is accepted the first time.

How much does an audit cost in Dubai?

The fee depends on turnover, transaction volume and the state of the books. After a short call we send a fixed quote in writing, agreed before any fieldwork starts.

How long does an audit take?

Most small and medium company audits take one to three weeks once the accounting records are complete. If your free zone deadline is close, tell us on the first call and we plan around it.

Who has to register for UAE corporate tax?

Every UAE company, mainland or free zone, must register for corporate tax with the Federal Tax Authority, even if it expects to pay nothing. The rate is 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above it. Qualifying free zone companies can keep a 0% rate on qualifying income.

When must a business register for VAT?

VAT registration is mandatory once taxable supplies and imports pass AED 375,000 in a 12 month period, and optional from AED 187,500. UAE VAT is charged at 5%.

When does e-invoicing start in the UAE?

The rollout is phased. A pilot begins in July 2026. Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more must go live by January 2027, and other businesses by July 2027. Each business has to appoint an accredited service provider before its date.

Can Quick Ashford set up my company and look after compliance afterwards?

Yes. We form mainland, free zone and offshore companies in all seven emirates, then handle bookkeeping, VAT, corporate tax and the annual audit under one engagement.
